Hey Ya'll!
Just wanted to say Hello to everyone. Its been quite sometime since ive been on here. Mainly because I was up in the Porcupine Mountains in the U.P. doing some Logging for the DNR. If you guys are into hiking/nature/hunting/fishing, this is THE spot to be! Its roughly 60,000 acres of Large wooded forests with rivers lakes and rustic cabins.
Most of the Logging I did was building cross country ski trails/hiking trails along with some conservation plantings. I got a chance to see Black Bear, Deer, Moose, Eagles (Golden and Bald), Beavers, Woodpeckers, and some of the BIGGEST Salmon I have even encountered! Not to mention getting to play with a ported Stihl MS880 chainsaw everyday. Its a heavy saw but cuts like a Gorrilla with a machette. I modified a Kelty full frame backpack to carry it on the trails. I would normally would hike 5-12 miles a day depending on the trail. Let me tell you, That will get you in shape real quick! Sometimes we would take a F-350 but that was limited because of the open differentials in the mud/snow, but when I did get to use it, I was on it like prom night. I try to get up to the U.P. at least once a year, its beautiful. Used to stay for a week or 2 snowmobiling also between Paradise and Munising right on Lake Superior.
