Think I finally found something out.

I think I finally found out why I am always down and out of it. I try too hard to make other people happy and in turn, it is just bringing me down..... I realised this last night while out pulling a transmission out of treys car. This week has been pretty hectic, I have been doing someone a favor by pulling their transmission with help of a friend(1994TransAm on camaroz28.com). After pulling the transmission last night, i was supposed to take it down to detroit to drop it off, but there were no vehicles around to take, and ill be damned if im gonna put a greasy, nasty transmission in the back seat of my camaro which still has a PERFECT interior besides the front seats which have water stains on them from the t-tops. so this morning, i beg and beg my mom to let me use the durango to run it down, she finally agrees, as long as i get gas money from trey to cover the trip since the truck is almost on E. I get down there at the designated time and spot to meet up, and i wait over an hour, he doesnt show up, i call his cell phone like 5 times, but no answer either time, and now by this time i was really starting to get seriously pissed off that i drove an hour one way for nothing, and i DID NOT have the gas to make it back to flint.... I am extremely lucky that i finally remembered that i had a $5 bill in my wallet that was for gas in my camaro so i could go job hunting, which i desperately needed to do, but now it was wasted on just getting back to flint, and i BARELY made it home.

Well, right as im getting home, he calls, and wants me to run it back down at two o'clock. I said i would try if i could get gas and stuff. well my mom leaves in the truck, and i had a job interview, so i go there in the camaro which has a very bad wheel hub, and on the way back, it starts screeching extremely lound, and vibrating, so using the camaro to run the tranny down is out of the question. my mom just got home, and she refuses to let me use the truck after this morning with the whole gas deal (i was told i would get gas money when i got it down there, but since he wasnt there, scratch that idea). he doesnt feel like driving up to pick it up, though the tranny is in the driveway right in front of the garage wrapped in garbage bags, in case im not home and he does decide to come get it. yet he NEEDS the tranny tonight to take it out of state to get it rebuilt. I have no way of getting it down to him.

then theres other problems, my dad and me have been working on treys car, and trey wants it looking good and done in two weeks for the national event, and while at first it seemed possible, now that i think about it, i kinda doubt it will be done, it has no driveline, the entire motor is ripped apart, no exhaust on it, and there are MAJOR problems with bodywork, as his frame is severely twisted, and none of the body panels will line up. If i shim the front quarters to match with the hood, then they will not line up on the bottom, or with the moldings in the door, and it will look extremely half assed. the rear end is twisted too, you can actually see a bend in the rear drivers side sub frame. Basically the car needs a whole new body/frame, and just transplant the engine over. this car should have been totalled out in the first place and he should have collected insurance on it. the more i work on it, the more things i notice wrong with the car, and while id like to keep my hopes up, it is just looking very very bleak getting the car back together, let alone getting it to look decent, and getting the hood lined up (sits two inches up on one side due to bent frame) before the national event.

and then, my dad has absolutely NO time currently to paint his car. my dad has been on the road 7 days a week for the past few weeks, hes maybe home for like 6 hours a week, the rest is spent on the road (hes a long distance truck driver for GM) 6 hours is not enough to paint a car. it looks like his hours are going to be this way throughout the summer.......

All this stuff is bringing me down ALOT and i just realised it last night. I dont even have time to fix MY car or go job hunting (though i think i finally got one at Comcast, as they seemed VERY interested in me) I have been working on other peoples cars all day every day, and my car is going to hell because of it.

I dont mind working on cars, but like i said, i need a break sometimes, just to collect my thoughts, and relax.

If you have a little extra in the tank after your happy, use it on someone you care about. A friend, or family, or even your car. Answer this, you getting paid for this? And to help a freind is a great thing. Like when we did Brads Iroc a few weeks back. It felt good to help a friend, and at the same time see the car function better. But I didnt sacrifice my time to do it. If I had things to do, they got done. Brad understood that, and we worked around it, TOGETHER, and got it done. Sometimes people take advantage of a good thing, just make sure your not the "good thing"

he gives me these deadlines that it has to be done by, like the car has to be completely finished, rebuilt, painted, detailed etc. by july 26th for the nationals, it aint gonna happed.... most ive been paid is in food, he buys me lunch when hes up. i cant get the car out now, its in about 500 peices and is not moveable, so basically im stuck with it till its back together.... trey comes up like once a month to help for a couple hours, then when hes going to school here in flint (5 minutes from my house) hes always too busy with school to help.this all started out as bodywork, and waterpump only, and it has turned into an entire engine rebuild.....

I guess im too nice of a guy, and i guess im a wimp, since i dont like confrontations. everytime i work on it, i get even more sick of it. i can barely fit my car in the garage at night and everything.

I feel obligated though, because in the beginning i told him i would do the body work and paint it for him. now for some reason im rebuilding his engine, and it keeps piling up more and more...


He keeps telling me to put that tranny in my car to bring it down, and there is no way in hell that greasy leakiy thing is going in my perfect interior. I care about the inside of my car (hell, my console isnt even broke yet :razz: ) he offered adam last night $5 to drive it from flint to southern detroit, and that aint gonna happen.i dont mind working on his car, but i would like help, and i dont want bs stuff being added on.... also he invites himself up... ill have plans, then he calls me and says hes on his way up to mess with the car, despite my plans. i would like some weekends where i can do what i want, instead of laying under a greasy car all day working on it.


This is the reason im not going to make camarofest this year even though i desperately want to go. none of my friends near here own camaros, or are even interested in them, so im screwed on finding someone to ride down with. I would have had my car ready by now if i wasnt doing some work on his all the time. I was really looking forward to going down this year, but due to a bad wheel hub, tranny thats going bad (it prolly could have made it down and back though) and the fact that i couldnt come up with money for registration due to me not having a job, because ive been busy on his car instead of job hunting, looks like i am royally screwed this year, i highly doubt anyone will let me ride down with them, and hang out with them, since i dont have any other way to get there.

I can only hope next year i will be able to make it




I also have to find time to put my good heads/rockers/other assorted goodies on my car, which i havent had time to do......

I need to come up with at least $500 to even think about fixing my tranny/find a good used one, and i DEFINITELY need a job. ive been applying EVERYWHERE, and nobody calls me back, i dont understand why.....

Jason, I have to agree with Q on this. Even though I have never met Trey, I always got the feeling that he tries to use people to get what he wants.

You definitely need to work on making yourself happy (finding a job, fixing your car, whatever) before trying to make some selfish person happy. If you do end up fixing Treys car, you DEFINITELY MUST get paid for all your time and effort that you put into it (lunch doesn't cut it). If you need to move his car out of your garage, let me know. I have some of those car dollies that we could put it on and push it out for the garbage guys to pick it up. I would drive up to Flint to help you do it.

and Q, if those trannies really are 0mileage or close to it, you can count on me picking one up as soon as i come up with the cash..... i really wanted to build a tranny up a bit, but with the way i am financially, and the fact i have been driving with a slipping tranny for the past 7 months, (it hasnt been working right for the past year, but slipping started 7 ago) i will settle for ANYTHING that works..... i am sick of letting all the way up on the gas every time i want to shift..... cant be good on gas mileage either. so save one for me, i will definitely buy one, as long as it will bolt up to my engine (3800) its just a matter of me getting the money.


Like becca said, its hard to say no, i guess thats why im too nice, people ask me to do something, and i just cant say no... and right now i am so overloaded on cars im supposed to be working on, and treys is just holding me up.

its still a 14 second one at that... With his AFR's Vs my LT1 castings. Hell my STCOK heads would EASILY take him out by over a second :lol:

The best my car ran stock was a 14.06 @100 with a 2.07 60' time. Now it's at least 1 second and 10 mph faster.
