Glad the driver didn't take anyone out and only damaged his own property.

that boat has a vented bottom. which lets air under it. they run about 10-15% faster then a straght bottom boat with the same power. they do get a little slick in turns and will spin out at speed if not trimed right.
here is a clip when the boat first got to russia. they don't even open the hatch to take a look at anything. anti freeze just pouring out of the pipes at start up. drives are up in the air. no warm up. what a tool. i think that boat is a 2008. worth at least $400,000.00.

Looks like they high sided and the boat cavitated, skipped, and cought an edge.
Todd is right. Not to belittle anyone, but if you have never run a boat alot, there is more to them then people think. You would be surprised how much air you can get out of a boat on glass water if you trim it right.
When I put the gauges in my Lib, I installed a Lanyard then too. Cant say I ALWAYS wore it, but if I was banging the waves at full throttle I had it on my wrist. Better to swim back to a boat that is half a mile away, than one that never stopped.
Water is only soft at idle speeds :)
