I guess technically it doesn't need to be tigged, but it would look nicer when done I think.
Anyway, I have the exhaust mocked up for my bike. Need about 3 or 4 sections of 2" mild steel welded together at the butt seams.
Anyone? Al Perhaps? I will load the whole bike up so we can go through and make sure everything is where it needs to be.

Mike, I know its a trip but my friend Evan graduated with a welding degree (tig, mig, arc). He is located NE of Lowell and does great work. If you want to spend a day working on your pipes just let me know.

If you can't find someone to tig them for you just give me a call. I don't have tig but with a practice piece I can get my mig set up to do a really nice job.

yep, the bike is hanging about 4 feet in the air right there :)
here you can see where I cut the stock exhaust. Eventually I will replace this section with a merged collector.

And here's the complete mockup with the bike still hanging.

This is a Tyga Moto Maggot muffler, on a custom designed intermediate pipe. I cut right between the EXUP and o2 sensor.
The new setup, including the header, intermediate pipe, and muffler, plus all bolts, weighs right around 7 pounds.
Tomorrow I will get the arrow tune loaded as a starting point, then get my tuneboy coming for the final tweaks.
Before the week is over, I will be dropping off the entire system (except the muffler) off to Zoo Factory Coatings to be thermal barrier ceramic coated inside and out.
Now keep in mind, it's 40 degrees F here in southern Michigan right now. This is the first startup and running ont he TOR tune, so it sputters a bit.

This is a walk around video, after it has warmed up (slightly).

And here are some pictures showing body work clearance, swing arm clearance, etc.

Does this mean I will need to wear better ear plugs and turn my music up louder when we ride?
Nice job.

Coated the pipe in black 1200 degree duplicolor 'with ceramic'
Probably about 8 coats :) (took two days)
Got it put together today. Forgot to take a picture after the bike was completely reassembled, but here you can see the pipe on the bike.

Oh, and Al, we forgot to take into account the thickness of the rubber bushing when placing the bracket, so the muffler is a LOT closer to the swingarm then it was. I don't see it being an issue though, and if need be I can mod the mount

(PS, I imagine this thread could be moved to the bike forum if someone were so inclined. I don't have that ability anymore)

Really looks good Mike.
Darn I thought that the bushing was almost flush to the mounting hole not sticking way out like that. I'm sure that if necessary it can be trimmed down on the inside.
