I just bought an '03 Yamaha R6 and I was wondering where you guys get your insurance through. I have had quotes through Progressive already, but was wondering if there are any cheaper companies...

If you could add your rate, and also a phone number to your agent that would be great!! :dunno:

state farm hands down for sportbike coverage.

BUT, you have to have a clean record, insure 1 car with them (they are cheap for this too) and be over 24 or 25. not sure on the 25 part, but if your not its gonna be high anywhere.

for example, Im 35 and they insure an R1 for 600 a year. full coverage, 100 ded on comp. 250 collision I think.

they pretty much break it down like this, 600's around 400/yr for me, 750's were low 5's and 1000cc's are in the 6-700 range.

+1 for State Farm.

I actually switched to Auto Owners last year due to cheaper car coverage, but State Farm was always the best for bikes.

That's weird, I just got a quote from an agent for $840.90/year for PLPD with Comprehensive coverage ($100 deductible)....Progressive gave me a quote of $575/Year for the same coverage.....weirdness :dunno:

P.S. I have no points on my license, but I am 23 :whatever:

575 a year at 23 isn't too bad; how much more is it with collision?

if your not too far from 24, get that coverage with progressive untill then, then shop around again.

ALSO, I have seen other state farm agents vary quotes; so call my agent if you want to be sure your not getting ripped.

also, it helps a bit to have a motorcycle safety course; AND make sure your not trying to get insurance on a temp liscence. I know for a fact that state farm is higher untill you have your endorsement. plus, did you check to see what insuring a car and the bike was with them? w/o a 2/3 vehicle descount its higher. AGAIN, you might have to wait till you hit 24. wont hurt to call around again in a year. I did that a lot, at 19/23/24/25/30 etc. diff places give defferent age breaks. also every time I insure a new vehicle I double check the major companies, you never know who might be cheaper.

well, EXCEPT AAA; they suck ass.

+1 for Progressive, I have all my auto insurance with them. They are always competitive when I re-check my rates every 18 months, making it hard to switch.
